The Tioga County Sportsmen’s Association (TCSA) is authorized to teach the NYS Conceal Carry Firearm Safety Training, which is required before anyone in NY State can be issued a Concealed Carry Pistol Permit.
We are authorized to instruct residents in Tioga, Chemung, Tompkins, Monroe, Cortland, Chenango, Erie, Steuben, Jefferson, and Broome Counties.
We try to conduct one class each month. The minimum attendance is 6 people, and the maximum is 12. If the class has only five people enrolled, you will be rescheduled to the next month you are available. These required student numbers take into consideration the time, effort, safety, and personal involvement for the attendees and staff instructors.
The fee for the class is $300.00 This includes all that one needs to complete the class (firearms, ammunition, training books, snacks, beverages, and lunches). A $100 deposit is required in advance to hold your seat. If you fail to attend, TCSA reserves the right to reimburse itself for any expenses paid on your behalf (i.e. if we pay for your lunch and you do not show up, we may charge you for those expenses…). If you sign up and cannot attend, let us know in advance, and we will try to work with you to move you to a different class.
NYS requires 16 hours of classroom training, with a written exam that requires 80% to pass. Additionally, two hours of hands-on live fire training is required, for a total of 18 hours. Our live fire exercises are conducted in our inside heated shooting range, ending with the NYS Live Fire Assessment. These requirements are reasonably easy to accomplish.

The weekend course runs 8:00am to 5:00pm.

After that you will receive a return e-mail or a phone call to discuss the particular class that you wish to attend.
Please do not send any payment until it is verified that there is availability for the class you desire. Instructions will be sent to you regarding the information needed to enroll and how to send payment. Simply sending information does not confirm registration in a class. Direct contact with the Coordinator is necessary!
Once you have contacted the Coordinator you will be asked to provide your:

NRA # if you are an NRA member.
When you are confirmed for attendance in a class, you will then be instructed regarding the required $100 registration fee and payment process. Do not send payment until those instructions arrive in your e-mail box.
