Hunter Ed

Hunter Ed

Hunter Education is required for all hunting licenses, including bowhunting. This course covers firearms safety, hunting techniques and responsible, ethical hunting practices. TCSA acts only as the host for these classes and is not responsible for registering participants.  The classes are conducted by a group of DEC certified volunteer instructors at the Tioga Sportsmen's Club facilities on Carmichael Hill Road in Owego, NY. We appreciate the use of the facilities, and the instructors who give their time for the classes. TCSA typically hosts six basic firearm Hunter Education classes per year.   HOWEVER DUE TO COVID 19, IN-PERSON CLASSES ARE NOT PERMITTED.  DEC is offering  an on-line hunter ed class.  To register go to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Website;

  • On the Home page click on News and learning near the top of the page.  Select Classes and Training from the drop down menu.
  • On the next page under Classes and Training click on “Hunter and Trapper/Hunter Safety Classes”.
  • On the next page under Online Hunter Education Bowhunter Education click on the ONLINE HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE is now available.
  • On the next page go to New Online Hunter Education Course and click on hunter -ed website.

Once in-person classes are permitted there will be a schedule for classes at TCSA posted here.
